Last week members of the Coeus Software team jetted off to Orlando, Florida to demonstrate PoliceBox at the IACP 2018 conference, the annual meeting of the International Association of Police Chiefs (IACP).

As you might expect for an annual gathering of US police chiefs, it really was an enormous event, with over 6,000 attendees overall. We were located on a pod on the UK Government Stand. Our stand was well attended throughout the event, with an innumerable number of police chiefs coming over to try PoliceBox out for themselves – and to get hold of the 400 PoliceBox stress toys we brought with us! These were so popular that we ran out before the event had even finished.

We were hosted by the UK Department of International Trade and they introduced us to numerous opportunities. Given the nature of local policing in the US, the forces we met with ranged in size from small town departments with 5 officers, to large national forces with 85,000 officers under their command. We also had visitors from numerous federal agencies including the FBI, Homeland Security and US Marshalls. Not only did we make fantastic new contacts within each US state, but we also met with forces from Canada and as far afield as South America, the Caribbean and Nigeria.

The event was a great success for us and proved there is a real interest in a product like PoliceBox in the US and beyond, where there is an aspiration to free officers from their vehicle MDTs and give them a genuinely mobile service.
